Police in Machinga have arrested 35 years old Charles Matemba in connection with the shooting of Assistant Superintendent, Victor Midian of Ndirande Police.
Midian was shot while on duty in Blantyre recently.
Machinga Police Officer in Charge, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gideon Nahumu confirmed the arrest of Matemba at a lodge at Mangochi Turn Off on Wednesday.
He said the arrest was done following a tip off.
“Matemba sustained a leg injury from a bullet at the time when there was exchanging fire with the police,’ Nahumu added.
Matemba still has the injury on his leg, according to Nahumu.
Matemba was on Thursday evening taken to Blantyre for further questioning.
He comes from Mkwekwere village, Traditional Authority, Kalembo in Balaka.
