BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Maravi Post 2021 Personality of The year Bon Kalindo says the award be given to Malawians for showing support towards social-economic right he continues to fight.

Kalindo popularly known as Winiko, former UTM Director of Youth observes that the award shows that his course for citizens rights continues to have impact.
He therefore vows to continue fighting for citizens right disclosing that he will lead the first anti-government demonstrations of on January 13, 2022.
“I’m very humbled to be recognised by the general public through your publication. I owe the award to Malawian people for the support rendered on the good course am advancing.
“I’m very grateful for Malawians who took part in the voting. This is encouraging that will continue with fights that Malawians get what were promised to them during the 2020 Presidential Election Campaign,” assures Kalindo.
Kalindo told the Maravi Post that protest against against the high cost of living in Malawi will resume that the citizens get better life as promised.
According to the politician, protests will be held on January 13 in Blantyre.
On January 23, Kalindo will lead Chingeni Tollgate aimed at forcing government to reduce tollgate fees. According to Kalindo, protesters will hold a vigil at the tollgate and force motorists not to pay fees.
Kalindo already negotiated for a reduction of the tollgate fees and government agreed but President Lazarus Chakwera Tonse government administration is yet to implement the reduced fees.
“Its wrong to lie to citizens just because you want to be power. We want these unimaginable fees, taxes be reduced that the citizen they not continue to suffer amid economic turmoil. We will not seat back watching politicians getting advantage of locals while their families are enjoying free government resources,” he dared.
Kalindo last year led demonstrations in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Mangochi aimed at demanding the Lazarus Chakwera administration to implement solutions to the rise in cost of living.
He was arrested in December on accusations of spreading false information during demonstrations in Mzuzu and Mangochi.
After he was granted bail, he was also arrested for malicious damage during protests. He is currently out on bail.
Kalindo is expected to appear before Zomba and Lilongwe magistrate courts on January 20 and February 3, 2022 respectively.
