BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Energy Minister Ibrahim Matola has received another public backlash for refusing to apologize to the Malawians who he said are ‘ frogs’.

In his defending claims, Matola says people are just misinterpreting his proverb of which is not what he said.

He says if Malawians are to listen the clip properly, there is nowhere in the speech where it was said that all Malawians who are complaining about economic hardships in the country are frogs.

But reacting to his defending claims, many people on social media have blamed Matola for not just accepting the truth of his remarks and offer an apology.

Gilbert Ilimu says” The Minister himself is not right . It was important just to say sorry to the nation and it would be best because every Malawian in this country is very important and it sad he did not say any nonsense to all Malawians but the few.

” Even people who go against the government are also Malawians. The fact is that he must stop immediately to try to know Malawians”.

Ilimu adds, “Many people in this country are suffering and this is not the right time to talk nonsense to Malawians.

“It is important to be very careful when we are trying to praise someone whom we think is very important to ourselves in Malawi”.

Another one Paul Chiwaya says, “Unrepentant Minister, which means he stands by what he has said”

Madalitso Sunda writes, “As a concerned citizen, I would have loved if the Minister just apologized to Malawians for his senseless outburst other than bringing silly excuses”.

John Chabwa says, “if not despising anyone, can he then tell us to whom that frog referred ??. No need of covering things which are open “.

“Honourable Matola, do your homework properly. You cannot fool us around. It is what you said, we heard it and it would have been better for you to withdraw your sentiment . Malawians these days are not living in darkage, they have Radios, TVs, Newspapers, online news sites. You won’t run away and will pin you until you apologize”.

Matola committed his blunder on Monday June 6, 2022 during the inauguration of the 20 Megawatt JCM solar and battery plant in Dedza.
