LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Matours International Coach Services on Monday, November 13, 2023, donated two bus return tickets to Miss Malawi Culture Ireen Navicha to enable her key team members to accompany her to South Africa to attend Miss Soweto South Africa pageant where she has been invited.
This follows the request submitted to Matours International Coach Services by Miss Malawi Culture managing agency, the Lush Foundation Africa, which has its presence both in South Africa and Malawi.
After receiving the returned tickets at Matours Lilongwe offices, the 18-year-old culture pageant artist, Ireen Navicha, says she is set to showcase Soweto dwellers Malawi’s diverse culture.
The pageant centers on Ubuntu, at a South African cultural festival dubbed “Miss Soweto South Africa Pageant” slated for November 25.
The culture queen, studying Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices at MUST, lauded Matours for the timely support.
She said her dream is to pursue a career in law and the arts and culture, urging fellow girls to promote culture, saying it brings unity.
The coach line’s Public Relations Associate, Bright Kampaundi, says as partners in development the company donated the tickets to the cultural queen so she can put Malawi on the map and help boost the tourism sector in return.
“Matours International Coach services saw this as a
noble cause as it is a continuous process of lifting the Malawian flag high in various spaces including the Soweto pageant where our culture queen will market and showcase some cultural aspects of our nation.
“Matours being a travel company realized that it has a pivotal role to contribute to the tourism sector by supporting the participation of the Miss Malawi Culture team to attend the Soweto pageant whereby we believe their participation will speak about
Malawian culture and Malawi being a destiny for tourism”, said Kampaundi.
He added, “We at Matours are not looking at the value of the amount of the donation, but rather the spirit behind this donation, which is a sign of acknowledgment that a business entity.
“We always have the responsibility to support any cause that has a greater benefit to the nation and this is one of them”.
