The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has once again demonstrated its penchant for violence and intolerance, as one of its own members, Hon Njikho, Director of Youth for Lakeshore, was brutally hacked by a bodyguard of an aspirant at the party’s convention held at the BICC.
The incident is a stark reminder of the party’s history of cruelty and its leader’s tacit endorsement of violence.
According to eyewitnesses, Hon Njikho was attempting to restore order at the entrance of the convention venue when he was attacked by the bodyguard.
The gruesome image of Njikho’s injuries, which has been circulating on social media, is a testament to the brutality of the attack.
This incident is not an isolated event, but rather a continuation of MCP’s culture of violence and intimidation.
The party has a long history of using strong-arm tactics to silence dissenting voices and maintain control.

President Lazarus Chakwera's statement, "I am ready to shed blood," has seemingly become a rallying cry for the party's thugs, who have been emboldened to commit heinous acts with impunity.
Since Chakwera took office, there have been numerous reports of violence and intimidation perpetrated by MCP supporters.
The party’s leadership has consistently failed to condemn these acts, sending a clear message that violence is an acceptable means of achieving their goals.
In 2020, MCP supporters attacked opposition party members and vandalized property during a political rally.
In another incident, a group of MCP youths assaulted a journalist for reporting on the party’s internal conflicts.
These events demonstrate a clear pattern of behavior, where the party prioritizes violence and intimidation over democratic principles and human rights.
MCP’s cruelty and intolerance are not limited to physical violence.
The party has also been accused of using underhanded tactics to silence critics and maintain control.
In 2022, the party was accused of bribing opposition party members to defect to MCP, a move seen as a desperate attempt to maintain power.
The hacking of Hon Njikho is a stark reminder of MCP’s true nature.
The party’s leadership must be held accountable for their actions, and their continued endorsement of violence and intimidation must be condemned in the strongest terms.

As Malawi approaches the next general elections, it is essential that voters remember MCP’s history of cruelty and violence.
The party’s actions demonstrate a clear disregard for human life and democratic principles.
It is time for Malawians to reject MCP’s culture of violence and elect leaders who prioritize peace, justice, and human rights.
The hacking of Hon Njikho is a tragic event that highlights MCP’s non-repentant and cruel nature.
The party’s continued use of violence and intimidation is a threat to democracy and human rights in Malawi.
It is essential that the party’s leadership is held accountable, and that voters reject MCP’s culture of violence in the next general elections.
