“A tree with strong roots does not fall in a storm.”
The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) seems to believe that using state institutions to silence political rivals will strengthen its hold on power.
However, history teaches us that oppression is never a lasting strategy.
The arrest of Alfred Gangata is not about enforcing the law—it is a clear act of desperation by a government losing its grip.
If MCP thinks that eliminating strong opponents through intimidation will secure victory in the upcoming elections, they are gravely mistaken.
The timing speaks volumes
For years, Alfred Gangata has lived and operated freely in Malawi without any legal troubles.
Why, then, has he suddenly been arrested now—right after declaring his political ambitions?
This is not a coincidence.
Gangata has been pulling in massive crowds, far surpassing those drawn by Chimwendo Banda and his so-called “computer-generated supporters.”
Malawians are not blind; they see exactly what is happening.
The reality is simple—MCP is afraid.
The party knows that its time in power is running out, and it hopes that by targeting strong opposition figures, it can prolong its stay.
But as the elders say, “A man who runs from the sun cannot escape its heat.”
No amount of political trickery will save MCP from the people’s judgment.
A government that has lost its moral authority
Democracy in Malawi was not handed to us—it was earned through struggle and sacrifice.
Yet, MCP continues to disregard the fundamental freedoms that Malawians fought so hard to secure.
If justice in Malawi were truly fair, Gangata would not be in jail—the real offenders would.
MCP’s history is filled with violence, oppression, and abuse of power.
If any party deserves to be held accountable for its past and present actions, it is MCP.
“A pot that once brewed poison can never be trusted to carry clean water.”
How can a party with such a brutal history claim to be the guardian of democracy?
The voices of those who suffered under MCP’s rule still echo, yet the party continues to repeat its mistakes.
This time, however, the people will not stand by silently.
The people will have the final say
No oppressive government lasts forever, and MCP will be no exception.
The people of Malawi will ensure that it is removed and placed where it belongs—on the wrong side of history.
Any government that turns against its own citizens is doomed to fall.
“A bird that steals feathers to build its nest will one day be left exposed by the wind.”
Malawians demand the immediate and unconditional release of Alfred Gangata.
This is not a request—it is a demand.
Every additional day that Gangata remains behind bars is another step toward MCP’s downfall.
The more they resist the will of the people, the harder they will fall.
Let there be no doubt—Malawians will not allow an oppressive party to continue ruling.
MCP’s time is almost up, and the people are ready to make their voices heard.
September is approaching fast, and no amount of arrests will stop the coming change.
Release Alfred Gangata now, or prepare for the people’s judgment!
“The power of the pen will always be greater than the power of oppression.”
