LILONGWE (MaraviPost): in a statement seen by The Maravi Post, The Malawi Defence Force wishes to inform the general public that the remains of late Lance Corporal Chitenji KAMANGA who was killed while serving under the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will arrive in Malawi on Saturday,22 May, 2021.
The plane carrying the remains of the fallen peacekeeper is expected to land at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) at around 1240 Hours. A brief military service will be held before the body is driven off to Chamande Village Traditional Authority Mwambo in Zomba District for burial on Sunday,23 May, 2021.
Major Emmanuel Kelvin Mlelemba said, Late Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga was killed on 10 May, 2021 when an unknown Illegal Armed Group (IAG) attacked one of Malawi Contingent’s base, Kiliya, in Eastern DRC.
