MSCE exams to start today amid tight security: ACB, MDF, Police on ground zero

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Form four candidates in all secondary schools across the country are expected to start their Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations this morning following the cancellation of the last year exams due to widespread leakage.

As per Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) calendar, the students were initially supposed to sit for the exams from June to July 2020 but the novel Corona virus which is still ravaging the whole world necessitated the closure of schools as one of the preventive measures.

As MANEB is ready to start the re-administration of the cancelled exams, Maravi Post can reveal that no evidence of leakage has been reported so far apart from the usual fake news from unscrupulous online publications.

According to MANEB, the government properly funded the new set of examinations after the cancelation of the exams due to leakage last year.

The government released K4.7 billion for the re-administration of MSCE exams.

MANEB says Malawi Defence Force (MDF) will provide security for MSCE examinations.

772 soldiers have been deployed to provide security in the delivery of examination papers to storage facilities and also guard storage facilities.

The police will provide security at examination centers. The police have deployed 997 police officers in all centers.

Anti-Corruption Bureau and the National Intelligence Bureau will also do spot checks to establish if there are any suspicious activities.
