Multi-billion Kwacha water project launches in Blantyre

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, has announced the commencement of a multi-billion kwacha water project in Blantyre.

Mia revealed that ground preparation for the project is at an advanced stage, with the consultant already on the ground.

Soon, tenders will be placed to identify a contractor, and the entire city of Blantyre will be a construction site.

The project aims to improve sanitation and water availability in the city while creating jobs for its residents.

According to Robert Hanjahanja, Chief Executive Officer for the Blantyre Water Board (BWB), the project is funded by the World Bank and focuses on supply and sanitation improvement in Blantyre city.

This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of Blantyre’s residents, providing them with better access to clean water and sanitation facilities.

The project will not only improve the health and well-being of the city’s residents but also create employment opportunities, contributing to the local economy.

With the consultant already on the ground and tenders soon to be placed, the project is set to move forward, bringing much-needed improvements to Blantyre’s water and sanitation infrastructure.
