Renowned Malawian musician Patience Namadingo has concluded discussions with officials from the Mangochi District Council, which he described as successful and encouraging.
Namadingo said the council officials requested him to submit a formal letter and follow the appropriate procedures required for such engagements.
According to Namadingo, the officials informed him that there are a total of nine broken-down vehicles under the council’s jurisdiction.
Out of the nine, five vehicles are already undergoing repairs by the council itself.
The remaining four vehicles are the ones the council is open to allowing Namadingo to assist in repairing.
The District Commissioner (DC) for Mangochi, Davie Chigwenembe, commended Namadingo for stepping forward with this gesture.
He said the council indeed needs support, and any such contribution is welcome.
However, Chigwenembe clarified that it is too early to determine whether the council will formally allow Namadingo to repair the vehicles.
He explained that the final decision will depend on the legal and procedural guidelines that govern such support within the council.
This development showcases a unique and commendable example of a public figure engaging with local authorities to address infrastructure challenges in their community.
Namadingo’s move, if approved, could mark a new form of collaboration between artists and government institutions to improve service delivery.
