BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Malawi’s leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa, who is also Mulanje Central Constituency legislator, on Friday paid a visit to former official hostess of Malawi Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira.

According to Nankhumwa, the visit was just to chill with Kadzamira as one of the women who shares a greater part of the country’s history.

“Today I met in audience one of the women who shares a greater part of our Nation’s history, Mama Cecelia Tamanda Kadzamira. She remains one of outstanding women in the country.

“Full of wisdom, integrity and love for Mother Malawi. She wished me success and God’s blessings in my new capacity as Leader of Opposition,” wrote Nankhumwa on his official facebook page.

Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira  (born 25 June 1938) was the official hostess of Malawi during the reign of Kamuzu Banda under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP). Whilst she and Dr. Banda were not officially married, she served as the first lady or official hostess for several years.

For several years, she was the most powerful woman in Malawi. Ms Kadzamira, is fondly referred to as “Mama”, or “Mother of the Nation”
