BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The National Bank of Malawi(NBM) has launched a program to address funding gaps in the agriculture sector, supporting Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs).
The initiative will provide SMEs with access to loans to enhance their businesses, including adding value, transportation, and purchasing equipment.

NBM Head of Retail Banking Division, Oswin Kasunda said the program aims to boost SMEs’ growth by providing working capital.
“This initiative will enable farmers to invest in equipment, irrigation systems, and crops, ultimately enhancing their businesses,” said Kasunda.
On her part,Sales and Marketing Officer of Kwanza Cocoa Annastasia Kapeta, welcomed the program, citing challenges with labor during peak production periods.
“The bank’s financing program will greatly assist us, especially during large-scale production needs,” said Kapeta.
The program aims to empower SMEs in the agriculture sector to grow and thrive.
