New Forest Cabin in Ntchisi Forest Lodge – An experience in itself!

In 2014 Ntchisi Forest Lodge celebrated the 100th anniversary of the lodge (which makes it one of the oldest buildings of Malawi). It was during this time that the new owners of Ntchisi Forest Lodge came up with the idea to extend the accommodation to make the lodge ready for a new era. Besides the 5 cosy rooms in the lodge and the campsite, 2 luxury tents were set up in the stretch of forest in front of the lodge. But the cherry on the cake had to be a real forest-experience: a Forest Cabin that gives you the feeling of being in the middle of the forest.

Resident Tim Mahoney did the fantastic design and building plans for the cabin. Benson one of the local contractors who has also built some other structures in the recent past took care of the execution. Apart from the local community helping out with fetching tons of bricks, sand and other stuff, also huge pieces of glass had to be found and carefully transported in order to realise the dream to have windows from the floor up to the ceiling. With a good team of local workers, the cabin was eventually finished in 2015. Ntchisi Forest Lodge is really proud of this piece of art blending in with the surroundings.

What to expect?
The Forest Cabin has two private rooms combined together with a bathroom in the middle. One of the rooms has a double bed and the other one two single beds. All of the beds have brand new 28 cm thick mattresses awaiting for guests. In the double bedroom you will also find the fireplace for cosy evenings when it gets cold up the mountain. You can also sit outside at the veranda looking out on the rainforest to the left and the lake in front of you.

The Forest Cabin is very well suited for families or for honeymooners.
