Ngoni Maseko of Ntcheu have dethroned Youthful Gomani V for despising royal family members

The Ngoni Maseko of Ntcheu on Saturday, September 12, 2015 resolved to remove the youthful Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V, Willard Kanjedza Gomani from the chieftaincy as Paramount for despising royal members.

The development comes after a week a court in the district ruled in the favour of the 24 year old Inkosi to go a head hosting Umhlangano due to similar issues which has led to his firing from the chieftaincy.

According to the local press, the royal family held a meeting over the weekend to bring sanity into the chieftaincy which has been long overdue since the death of Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani IV.

The only remaining son of Philip Gomani, Titus Philip Gomani is said to have chaired the caucus of the firing of Mswati Willard Gomani which took place at Nkolimbo Village, Group Village Headman (GVH) Eneya at Traditional Authority (T.A) Kwataine in the district.

The meeting’s minutes resolved that Mswati together with her aunt Rosemary Malinki who was regent be dethroned for despising the royal family members including Titus Philip Gomani. Therefore, Titus who is the senior Prince, declared Dingiswayo Samson Gomani as the caretaker Inkosi Ya Makosi until further notice. The caucus also empowered, Titus to take the leading role and have a final say in all activities of the chieftaincy.

“Senior Prince Titus Gomani closed the meeting by declaring that he was the one who approved Mswati Willard Gomani to be heir to the throne and a successor of his father, with the same powers and authority, he declared that Mswati and Malinki are no longer Paramount Chief and regent respectively and that from now onwards Dingiswayo Samson Gomani will take over as the caretaker Paramount Chief until further notice” , reads part of the minutes copy as quoted by The Daily Times of September 16, 2015.

Titus and Dingiswayo Gomani confirmed the development said Dingiswayo started working as Inkosi Ya Makosi after the caucus saying though Mswati and Malinki did not show up for the meeting upon giving them invitation, the royal family thought wise to go a head with the decision.

The two said both Mswati and Malinki were aware about the development but there was nothing they could say regarding to the decision as the issues pertaining to their firing were overdue that they were playing hide and seek.

“We obtained a court order again Umhlangano due to the same issue but they sought the court’s relief and the event took place. After that we thought they would come for the meeting to address our differences but they didn’t show up despite several invitation letters even the Ntcheu District Commissioner informed the two about the meeting but chose turning down the calling.

“Malinki and Mswati don’t to meet me and respect the loyal family members, this is the reason I appointed Dingiswayo and if he also misbehave will face the chop as well .Both the ministry of local government and Ntcheu DC office are aware of these changes”, said Titus Gomani

But on Tuesday, September 15, Mswati said was not aware about the development including the Saturday meeting and the Youthful Inkosi expressed surprised regarding to his dethrone from the chieftaincy leadership.

“I don’t know anything. My office is actually open right now and there is crowd of people waiting to be head as of now I am at Lizulu, the headquarters. Who is the chief being chosen? This is news to me and they can’t fire me because I have done nothing wrong”, surprised Mswati Gomani.

While Malinki doubted the credibility of the new Paramount Chief’s selection saying the chieftaincy was not supposed to be handled in such a manner as she never being brought before any royal family disciplinary meeting.

Mswati was declared the Crown Prince in 2009 at the age of 13 after the death of his father Kanjedza Gomani and was crowned in 2012 as Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V.
