Nigerian angry mob set ablaze three thieves in failed bank robbery

OYO STATE-(MaraviPost)-Three members of a robbery gang have been burnt to ashes by angry mob after they attempted to rob a bank in Okeho, Oyo State.

The police command, Gbenga Fadeyi confirmed this in a statement on Thursday July 30.

Fadeyi said the robbers who rode in an 18-seater bus, arrived at the bank premises at about 3pm and gained entrance into the bank using dynamites and AK-47 riffles shots to blow the bank security door.

A report by Laila news indicated that the robbers were confronted by Police Tactical teams, Vigilante and hunters which resulted in them failing to get away with the money.

In attempt to flee the scene, three of the suspects failed to catch up with their bus and were arrested and later set on fire by the mob.

The police spokesperson said the state Commissioner of Police has directed all the Police Tactical teams including the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Mobile Police Force (PMF 72) and Police personnel from Okeho Area Command and nearby Divisions to be on the trail of other members of the fleeing robbery gang who escaped in different directions.
