Nissan sees Malawi as a strategic growth Market, launches Nissan Qashqai with pomp and fanfare

BLANTYRE (Maravipost)—Nissan, an automobile company, has said they identified Malawi as a strategic growth market and integral part of the automakers’ Power 88 strategy which aims to increase Nissan’s market share and profitability globally by 8 percent.

“As Nissan, we see great potential for growth as we continue our march in Africa and work towards achieving the goals outlined in our Power 88 strategy. For Africa, our intention is to significantly increase market share by 2016,” said Nissan’s Senior Manager, Corporate Communications (Sub-Saharan Africa), Nthabiseng Motsepe.

Motsepe said this in Malawi’s commercial capital Blantyre, where the officially handed over a brand new Nissan Qashqai to Malawian Harry Assima, the winner of the AFCON 2015 Goal of the Tournament fan competition.

She said they identified partners that share their values and vision and committed to driving the Nissan brand ethos through superior support to both existing and new customers.

“We are also revitalizing our sales network across the continent, opening more outlets and giving customers access to an innovative and exciting vehicle line-up.

“Together with the partners, a compelling product line-up and new infrastructure, we’re confident that we will be number one car dealership in Malawi. We believe that the new Qashqai will play a major role in taking us to the top,” said Motsepe.

Likewise, Principal Dealer, Ian Bartlet said the launch of Nissan Qashqai the country also formed part of Nissan’s Power 88 global business plan for 2011 to 2016.

He said they are looking to launching a new vehicle every week during this time and to introduce 15 new technologies every year to ably achieve their Power 88 goals. These include achieving global market share of 8% and increasing our operating profit to a sustainable 8%.

He also congratulated Harry Assima for emerging winner of the AFCON 2015 Goal of the Tournament fan competition.

By correctly predicting that Ghanaian left winger Christian Atsu was the Goal of the Tournament scorer, Assima won himself an all-new Nissan Qashqai.

This is Assima first vehicle and first Malawian to own Nissan Qashqai.

“Africa plays a huge role in Nissan’s Power 88 plan. It is a maturing and strategic market for Nissan and we continue to push boundaries and bring ‘Innovation that Excites’ to all market segments.

“We are expanding manufacturing, developing sales outlets and making our product line-up even more innovative and exciting as part of our mission to grow market share,” explained Bartlet.
