KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-Nyasa Big Bullets registered their first win of the 2020/2021 TNM Super League Season after easing aside a stubbornChitipa United 2-0 at the Karonga Stadium on Sunday, December 6, 2020.

The Hosts had hoped to build on last weekend’s 1-1 draw with neighbours Karonga United while reigning champions bullets came into the game smarting from a 1-0 humbling to Karonga United a day earlier and were looking for their first goals of the season after registering blanks in their opening 2 encounters.

But goals from Hassan Kajoke in the second minute of the game and a close-range Mike Mkwate finish in the 12th minute were enough for the visitors to ease past the hosts to register their first win of the season.

The lions of chitipa who had coach Alex Ngwira back on the bench after missing the opening fixture due to personal reasons looked lively without troubling the bullets rear-guard lead by the Impressive GomizianiChirwa.

KhumboNg’ambi and Matthews Sibale came closest to pulling a goal back but their efforts went narrowly wide past the visitor’s goal.

With the win it meant that the reigning champions had collected 3 points out of a possible six in their two assignments in Karonga while Chitipa will have to wait for another week to pick up their first win of the season.

Speaking in a post-match interview Nyasa Big Bullets coach CallistoPasuwa, said his side responded well to Saturday’s defeat hence merited the 2-0 victory.

“It was a strong performance today more like our old selves as playing at the karonga stadium is always tricky but today we were dominant from start to finish and I hope we can build from this strong showing,” Pasuwa pointed out.

However, Chitipa United Coach Alex Ngwira, said he was encouraged with the performance despite the defeat.

“we made a slow start to the game which in the end cost us as before we woke up from our slumber we were already 2 nil down but as a coach I cannot fault my player’s commitment and energy they gave out everything and that’s what pleased me apart from the defeat,” he said.
