Of the late Jumani’s death and Kamuzu Family, MCP past brutal regime

By Falles Kamanga

The Malawi Congress Party  (MCP) will never change and blood of innocent people will continue to haunt it, with the recent death of Jumani Kamuzu Banda proving that MCP, Kamuzu Banda’s family and its operatives will come after everyone and kill them if they want to reveal the hidden truths about Kamuzu Banda.

Jumani Kamuzu Banda who has died mysteriously came to Malawi with claims that he was son to Kamuzu Banda.

He challenged everyone that he could prove that if given a chance to go for a DNA test and he was deported with the influence of Ken Kandodo who was then a serving cabinet minister .

One of Kamuzu Banda’s Aide who was head of Special Branch Martin Focus Gwede also died mysteriously after he had made a claim that he believed that Jumani was indeed Kamuzu Banda’s son, since he has seen him when he was young during his days with Kamuzu Banda abroad .

Gwede came out in support of a man claiming to be Banda’s son. He confirmed that Kamuzu Banda had three children, and that he believes that Jumani Johansson is the son of Banda

“This is the boy I saw in London referring to-Jumani Kamuzu Banda son to late Ngwazi Dr Hestings Kamuzu Banda, he is really son to Ngwazi.”

Gwede died in 2011 after he made such statements backing Jumani .

Jumani according to reports has died of food poisoning after he had challenged chiefs in Kasungu that he needed their help to prove his identity through DNA test .

Ken Kandodo through Zodiak Broadcasting Corporation said a drastic action would be taken if Jumani continued making such claims, weeks later he dies within hours of short illness.

No wonder the late Jumani’s wife has cried foul over the death for the son of the soil to tried so hard to reclaim his destiny.

The Kamuzu Family put spanners blocking the late Jumani despite his quest for DNA to justify his claims.

Despite Jumani’s fight, MCP leadership did nothing to help the young man, the party that knows exactly who Kamuzu was.

Should Malawians read too much on Jumani’s suspicious death that Kumuzu family and MCP still have blood hands that can not be trusted with leadership a head of May 21 polls? Time will guide!!!!

  1. Falles Kamanga!

You might be a writer or call yourself a reporter but I think the school that schooled you to write did not do justice. Your story is not balanced at all! I personally, do not know what you want to communicate by saying “The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) will never change and blood of innocent people will continue to haunt it, with the recent death of Jumani Kamuzu Banda”….. Are you implying that Jumani has been assassinated by MCP? Where is the evidence? I have scrolled down your article to see WHERE & WHETHER you have provided evidence to substantiate your claims. What I see are only your own emotional statements or speculations for instance:

“MCP, Kamuzu Banda’s family and its operatives will come after everyone and kill
them if they want to reveal the hidden truths about Kamuzu Banda”.

The statement above is apparently, your own claim; but it does not unravel the puzzle about Jumani’s sudden death which many a Malawian want to hear. We are aware that historically, MCP became associated with murders of innocent Malawians and those involved were picked up and tried then. You can get information on this if you google search should you want to learn more about this. You can read the reports on how the gruesome killings of cabinet ministers and an MP which took place in Mwanza. That era is long gone and the present MCP has completely, new people. The wind of democratic change completely transformed MCP. The people who masterminded the murders during MCP era quit or died out or left. MCP has changed and I think it is right for writers to learn the best use of facts when communicating stories to the Malawian public.

Gwede’s role of confirming that Jumani Kamuzu was indeed Dr. H.K. Banda’s son was not a bad one although he did not use overt evidence to prove his case. Malawians probably believed him because he was a high ranking police officer in Malawi Police (and he definitely, knew a lot secretes). However, confirming that Jumani is Kamuzu’s son alone does not show Malawians how Dr. Banda’s son has suddenly died; neither does it show us those who might have killed him; nor does it prove that it is MCP that hatched such a plot. If you have anything to offer Falles, please provide evidence. Malawians would like to hear that because sudden death of any human being; let alone that of a person who claims to be the son of Our Ex-President is a very shocking issue.

You have again made a claim that Gwede died in 2011 after he made such statements backing Jumani. I just hope you are using hospital reports to confidently be making such allegations. I never came close to Late Gwede (MHSRIP), but I only saw him talk about how the MCP Government arrested him and that he did not receive any assistance even during Multiparty era on MBC TV. Mr Gwede unfortunately, looked very poor and unhealthy on TV even that time. I feel sorry for him but it will be very unfortunate journalism to claim directly, that it was MCP that eliminated Gwede (even during the Multiparty era). I am sure the Government would have jumped in to find out why the great veteran; particularly, of Gwede’s caliber would be eliminated just like that by MCP as Falles alleges. I am putting up these arguments to challenge that Falles Kamanga did not do a proper research before writing her article.

I did not personally, listen to Ken Kandodo’s refutals on Zodiac concerning Late Jumani Banda but I saw the headline in papers indeed that Bwana Ken, spokesperson for Kamuzu’s family, did not accept Jumani as Kamuzu’s son. Purely, a family matter and not MCP. In fact, this matter began when Ken Kandodo was in DPP. Malawians are learning it from you Falles that Jumani was actually deported under Ken Kandodo’s influence when Ken was a DPP’s cabinet Minister. So it was not Malawi Congress Party that forced Government to depot him; alright! Are you saying the DPP Government supported Ken Kandodo to chase the young man then? Where is the evidence abale? So currently, MCP has taken over from where DPP stopped? Ladies and Gentlemen, let us learn to communicate right information to our people.

Personally, I would like to separate these issues. If the the DPP lead Government deported late Jumani then; I think we will not be right to say it is DPP, simply because Ken Kandodo was serving as a Minister under the DPP led Government then.

Deportation of individuals, who do not have proper documents when entering any country is a normal Government Procedure (especially where where someone overstays). Some of us can guess that when our late brother Jumani visited Malawi to introduce himself he probably didn’t have proper documents to allow him stay in Malawi. He certainly, used foreign papers. It is him who wanted to identify himself with us from Kasungu as his relatives so his first arrival conflicted with Government Procedures. Some of us know that he would still come back. “Mwana sasowa make “kwawo”; magazi amalongola!” So it was right for him to come but unfortunately, he didn’t papers at first. Purely, a family matter. Late Jumani would have pressed, pressed and pressed his family to accept. I would have agreed with if you said that Bwana Ken Kandodo’s words will haunt him for ever and places him a very difficult situation to eat back what he said. I do not know if he will continue denying Jumani’s remains even after the young innocent man is dead.

However, I want to challenge Falles when it comes to associating MCP with Jumani’s death. Why would MCP want to kill Jumani? If anything it is MCP that should mourn bitterly over the young man because just like other parties have done grooming presidents’ children or brothers e.g. DPP, UDF, AFORD, PP it would have been MCP’s turn as well to bring Late Jumani up in future and he would be a formidable force to reckon with.

Around 60s to 70’s America and South Africa had a culture of criminal “gangs”. Those who had the opportunity to travel told us that it was very dangerous living in suburbs with gangs around. They however, further said visitors to any suburb which had two or more gangs were more vulnerable that the residents. When we asked them: Why? They said members of gangs of a particular location knew each other as well as the local residents (but did not know members of gangs from a distant location), hence treated anybody they know with mercy. However, it was visitors who were very vulnerable. You go to any part of the town noone knew you so you were very likely to be attacked.

If the conspiracy theory you Falles are trying to postulate is that Our Brother Jumani Kamuzu Banda has actually been eliminated for political reasons that you need construct your conspiracy theory based on the story above. Unless we have postmortem evidence to know exactly, killed Our Brother, we may not exclude the possibility that if his death is indeed political, then it is possible that a party very different from MCP could do this evil act in order to implicate it as well as tarnish the name of Malawi Congress Party.

I do not agree with Falles that MCP should have intervened in a family matter to support Jumani’s quest for recognition as Kamuzu’s son. However, the DNA test would have been the only best way forward and Jumani would have achieved that to courts. The law would have prevented Ken Kandodo from barring Jumani’s search for identity.

This article does not in anyway attempt to prove the allegation that Malawi Congress Party could be connected to Jumani’s death. Falles is randomly throwing empty statements based on “history”. The article has failed to connect the link and /or reason why Malawi Congress Party should be associated with Jumani’s death. I think the author hates MCP; therefore belongs to another party – MCP’s competitor. Jumani’s death should not be used for political gains; May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace!

Let us wait for postmortem results to learn what killed him. We may be surprised!

    MOURNING FOR JUMANI

    RIP Our Brother!
    It is so sad!
That he had to come to Malawi!
    At the hour of elections!
Then lose his life in this manner!
Our brother you leave us with questions!
If any evil is associated with your death!
We know it is only God Almighty
    Who shall reveal the truth.
    RIP Our Brother
