MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to enhance youth participation in socialization and leadership, the Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) One Youth One Voice organization is set to host a music festival on Sunday at Katoto Secondary School grounds in Mzuzu City.
The daylong event aims to mobilize young people to take an active role in leadership and socio-economic endeavours.
The music festival, which will be held in all three regions of Malawi, is part of the organization’s efforts to strengthen youth engagement with duty bearers in line with the targets set in achieving Vision 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking on the initiative, One Youth One Voice President, Ernest Mtemweka Chirambo said the NGO has also instituted a professional arm comprising experts aimed at shaping young minds and helping them achieve their lifetime goals.
“The music festival is aimed at bringing together all the youths in disseminating relevant messages in considering taking leading roles in socio-economic growth of the country. There’s more to be covered in healing the minds of our young generation, including taking part in voting and various youth empowerment issues,” Chirambo stated
The coordinator of the professional arm, Apostle Steve Mwaimira, emphasized that the body will support leaders who prioritize youth development.
“We’ll support the leadership that supports youth development agenda. Enough of politicians who have oppressed the young generation for so long,” Mwaimira said.
Alice Msowoya, an aspiring independent ward councillor for Katawa-Kaning’ina, expressed her admiration for the One Youth One Voice campaign.
“I believes the initiative provides clear guidance in achieving youth empowerment goals, aligning with the 2063 Agenda and UN Sustainable Development Goals, while promoting youth leadership roles,” said Msowoya.
One Youth One Voice is a youth-led organization that works to promote youth engagement and leadership in Malawi.
