PLM CONDEMNS CLUSHES ON KAMUZU DAY

The People’s Liberation Movement (PLM) strongly condemns the violent clashes between police and supporters of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) that marred the Kamuzu Day celebrations in Lilongwe. These disturbing incidents undermine the principles of unity, peace, and respect that Dr. Banda stood for, and cannot let them define the nation’s progress. The PLM views these clashes as a setback to the country’s progress and a threat to national stability.

The Movement is deeply concerned about the use of state resources to intimidate and silence others, which is unacceptable in a democratic society. Such actions create divisions, fuel tensions, and hinder development. Peaceful gatherings are a fundamental right, and authorities must ensure accountability for those responsible for the violence. The PLM calls for an immediate investigation into the clashes and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

Lazarus Chakwera teargassed by the police

The PLM emphasizes that unity, peace, and respect are essential for Malawi’s development and prosperity. We call on all Malawians to unite in the face of violence and work towards a brighter future. Leaders should prioritize dialogue, transparency, and good governance. Let’s build a Malawi where everyone can thrive without fear of intimidation or persecution.

The PLM reaffirms its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and respect. We urge all stakeholders, including government officials, opposition leaders, and civil society organizations, to join us in this pursuit. Together, we can build a united, peaceful, and prosperous Malawi.

A CALL TO ACTION

The People’s Liberation Movement calls on all Malawians to stand together against violence and work towards a brighter future. We urge citizens to report any incidents of intimidation or violence to the relevant authorities and to support efforts towards peaceful resolution.
