Opposition DPP falling apart as Nankhumwa, Jeffrey on chopping radar

Peter Mutharika faulted for dividing DPP further

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is falling apart as the leadership continues sidelining senior party members in its activities.

The latest is sidling of DPP Secretary General and Southern Region vice president Griselda Jeffrey and Kondwani Nankhumwa on party central executive meeting which was held at its leader Peter Muthalika’s PAGE house on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

But Mutharika says the gathering was not a central executive committee meeting, but a technical working group for an ongoing functional review of the party’s restructuring drive.

Mutharika through his spokesperson Shadrick Namalomba says, the party’s secretary general, Griselda Jeffrey and vice president for the south Kondwani Nankhumwa should not worry, as the meeting did not need their presence.

Political commentator Victor Chipofya Jnr has observed with shock the exclusion of the two from the meeting which he says needed their input and direction.

Chipofya adds, the further exclusion of the two on a forthcoming DPP rally slated for Blantyre is indication enough, Jeffrey and Nankhumwa are being sidelined in party activities despite an order by the court to reinstate them to the party’s file of decision making.
