The death of Grace Chinga, a death confirmed by Pastor Chris Suya husband to Musician Thoko Suya who rushed her to the hospital upon being informed of her serious illness. Pastor Suya posting on Facebook said Chinga died after a short illness and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) Wednesday night.
Grace reportedly had complained of a headache and collapsed at her residence in Blantyre. She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in the city, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The tributes to Grace who appeared to have touched many souls have taken Social Media by storm. Indeed it is no exaggeration to say they have reached viral proportions. Adding to the intrigue are now whispers that her death was not from natural causes.
Some are suspecting her ex-husband, prophet Bushiri something about a song she wrote prophesising her own death. Renowned preacher Pastor Hastings Salanje says the death of Malawi’s gospel songbird Grace Chinga is testimony that “we are doing nothing as men of God”.
However many sentiments have to do with her music and how they were impacted by it.
The sentiments of many were captured by Seodi White who wrote the following, “I must teach myself to pay more attention to Malawian music rather rely all the time on my cousin Kangati Nyahoda to tell me the latest songs. I hardly followed Grace Chinga Moffat’s songs. But I saw her sing once and I loved her energy! She was on fireeee! It saddens me that we are losing young artists like this. Malawi needs them. I’m soo deeply touched by the many tributes flowing her way and how she touched people’s lives. And if this is how in her short life she impacted the world then it was a life well and deeply lived. Rest in peace Grace”.
