Amnesty International denounces “loss of freedoms” in West Africa

The Secretary General of Amnesty International, Agnès Callamard, says she is concerned about a “narrowing of the space for individual freedoms” in West Africa.

Speaking in Dakar after visits to Senegal and Mali, the Secretary General deplored the excessive use of force by security forces in Senegal following June’s legislative elections.

Excessive use of force by security forces must end. This is a crucial element to prevent other abuses, other deaths. Particularly in a pre-election context where freedom of expression, freedom of association are absolutely crucial”, said Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International.

The Secretary General also made a reference to the situation in Mali where violence against civilians has been on the rise since the start of the year.

Agnès Callamard denounced Mali’s ruling junta for not recognising the levels of violence exercised against civilians.

“Admittedly, security incidents have been on the rise since January 2002 and denial cannot help address them. Amnesty International and others have noted an upsurge in violence against civilian populations since the start of the year.
An upsurge that is not quite, or not at all, recognized by the authorities”, denounced Amnesty International’s secretary general.

Amnesty International’s Secretary General appealed for greater transparency in investigating the violent protests of June 2022 as well as what she described as new “enlightened” political leadership in Africa.

That was a testimony of the friendship, the brotherhood between the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Sierra Leone. And we will work further on this, to strengthen once again our ties of cooperation, brotherhood and friendship”, affirmed Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, Head of Guinea’s ruling junta.

Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, added:

“Guinea and Sierra Leone, we are not (just) neighbours, we are so related that it is difficult to draw a boundary between us. But that is what happened after colonialism, the ‘scramble for Africa’. So we have to keep this relationship between our two countries, and basically that’s what we are doing”, he said.

Colonel Mamady Doumboya led a coup in September 2021 ousting former president, Alpha Condé

Since October last year that Doumboya is serving as Guinea’s interim president.

Why Playcasino.co.za is a reliable source of information about online casinos

– –

We all need a way to relax and distract ourselves from the demands of work, errands, and other commitments, and maybe even make a little money if we’re fortunate when we get home at the end of the day.

Games of chance might be seen as a reflection of the universal truth that money makes the world go ’round. Thanks to convenient access and a broad selection of games and bonuses, online casinos have surpassed land-based establishments as the preferred gambling venue for South African punters. In addition, they provide greater ease of use.

If we’re going to talk about gambling and casinos, however, let’s keep it real and pragmatic. When looking for a reliable online casino, it’s important to consider not just the variety of games offered and the size of the bonus program but also the site’s reputation for safety and security.

Obviously, this proves that knowledge has a major impact on and relevance for South African gambling.

This is why so many gamblers read up on the best online casinos before making their ultimate decision. It’s important to remember that not all reviews are reliable, and not all of them are looking out for the best interests of gamers.

– –

The good news is that PlayCasino is one of the most reliable reviewers for South African players, and in this post, we’ll take a look at why that is.

Every casino is rated

In especially if you are a novice, you may find it much easier to navigate if you have access to information like reviews and ratings. Your choice of casino will certainly be influenced by the ratings.

Why? The amount of money you have to spend on gambling is finite. If you want to see benefits playing, you need to make smart choices about how to allocate and spend the money.

You can’t really appreciate the casino unless you find a website that provides you a leg up and a real chance at coming to a profit that will increase your bank account.

– –

Each casino that PlayCasino has reviewed will receive a simple star rating below the site’s logo. This is the very first item that catches your eye. Why sign up for a casino that only has a two-star rating when you can join one that has a perfect score?

There is no need to worry about online casinos rated four or three stars by PlayCasino’s experts since they all meet high quality too.

The selection of games is tested

It’s going to be tough for online casinos that don’t provide games developed by the best studios to win over and keep their players. Because of this, each PlayCasino review includes a rundown of the casino’s supplying software developers.

Playing games developed by reputable companies like NetEnt, BetSoft, and Playtech might enhance the quality of your gaming experience. The casino’s use of forward-thinking game creators like TomHorn, Play’n GO, and Pragmatic Play is another plus.

Bonuses are evaluated

Taking advantage of the fantastic bonuses offered by online casinos is one of the most thrilling aspects of playing at these establishments. The casinos are aware that these incentives are what draw in the clients, therefore, they are always trying to outdo one another with greater and better deals.

At PlayCasino, they compile a list of the most innovative freebies offered by real money online casinos. They also look for a loyalty or VIP program and make sure the wagering conditions are reasonable.

In addition, you’ll learn about any ongoing competitions at the casinos. You’ll also find that they sometimes provide unique bonus codes that may be used for free spins or money. Fun!

Your security is important

PlayCasino prioritizes player security when reviewing online casinos since they know it’s the right thing to do and know their customers will appreciate it.

It’s possible that you might have a bad day at an online casino, either on purpose or by pure luck. There is no question in our minds that some gambling companies are honest but lack the financial acumen to succeed and that others are out to steal from their customers.

It’s vital to differentiate between the two. Casinos with a history of not paying out to players will not be accepted at PlayCasino.

It’s also important to note that certain rating sites keep promoting shady gambling establishments. People in business naturally want to earn a profit, but the PlayCasino crew takes care to avoid harming players who are just searching for a pleasant place to bet.

World Cup 2022: Tunisia risk possible ban from finals in Qatar

– –

Tunisia could be excluded from next month’s World Cup in Qatar if the country’s government interferes in footballing matters, world governing body Fifa has warned.

Fifa’s member federations must be free from legal and political interference.

The warning comes after repeated comments from Tunisia’s Youth and Sports Minister, Kamel Deguiche, about the possibility of “dissolving federal bureaux”.

Fifa considers his statement an attempt to meddle in the running of the country’s football federation (FTF), and has asked the latter for clarification about attempts to interfere in its internal affairs and threats to dissolve its office.

The Zurich-based organisation has also reminded the FTF that member associations are “legally obligated to conduct their affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties”.

– –

“Any failure to comply with these obligations may result in the imposition of penalties under the Fifa laws, including suspension of the relevant association,” said a letter from Kenny Jean-Marie, Fifa’s director of member associations, to FTF general secretary Wajdi Aouadi.

A possible Fifa ban would mean no Tunisian club or national sides can play in either continental or international competitions.

Next month, the 2004 African champions are set to face World Cup holders France, Denmark and Australia in Group D in Qatar.

The Carthage Eagles have never gone past the group stage in five previous World Cup finals appearances, and will open their campaign against the Danes on 22 November.

– –

<

p class data-reactid=”.1ba95jpxjiw.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8″>Fifa has given the FTF no later than Friday to reply regarding its position following the minister’s comments.

Serious accusations have been levelled at the FTF in recent times, with one club side, Chebba, accusing the body and its president, Wadie Jary, of knowingly misleading the Court of Arbitration for Sport in April 2021 – prior to sport’s highest legal body ruling in the club’s favour later that year.

Top Tips for Comparing the Bonuses of Online Casinos

– –

The good news for players today is that there are literally thousands of fully licensed online casinos out there, and they are all currently offering each new player some kind of guaranteed welcome bonus.

For some people, choosing the best online casino bonus can be a daunting task, so here are some top tips for comparing the bonuses at online casinos.

What are the main types of online casino bonuses?

Although there are many online casino bonuses to choose from, there are just three main types of bonuses, which tend to include:

  • Matching deposit bonuses
  • Free spins bonuses
  • No deposit bonuses

As a new player, you can usually claim a guaranteed welcome bonus just for signing up to the casino. Let’s take a closer look at how each of these online casino bonuses works.

– –

Matching deposit bonuses

The matching deposit bonus is the most common type of bonus, and it’s fairly straightforward. When you deposit, the casino operator will match your deposit up to a certain amount.

For example, if the casino you are trying to sign up to is currently offering all new players a 100% matching deposit bonus worth up to £500 (or equivalent currency value), it means that the operator will match your deposit pound-for-pound up to the value of £500.

In other words, if you maximise the welcome bonus and deposit the full £500, you will end up with £1,000 to play with as soon as your deposit has been processed. This includes your initial £500 deposit + £500 in FREE BONUS MONEY.

– –

There’s no point depositing more than £500 because you would still only receive a maximum of £500 in bonus cash. If you can’t afford to deposit this much, don’t panic.

At most online casinos today, low rollers can deposit from as little as £10 or £20 (depending on the casino), and the good news is that you wouldn’t miss out on your welcome bonus by depositing this relatively small amount.

If you deposit just £20 with the 100% match bonus, you would end up with £40 to play with (£20 deposit + £20 bonus money), and if you deposit £35, you would end up with £70 to play with (£35 deposit + £35 bonus money), and so on. Tip: Don’t deposit more than you need to when claiming a welcome bonus.

Make searching the best online casinos easy

For a complete list of top-rated UK casino sites that currently have some amazing new player welcome bonuses up for grabs, go to the NewCasinos, excellent iGaming website. Don’t forget that you can also sometimes get special bonuses for using certain payment methods, such as your Visa or MasterCard.

Other online casinos might reward you for depositing with NETELLER, and so on. Tip: Try and use the selected payment method to ensure you don’t miss out on your bonus.

Free spins bonuses

The free spins bonus is the second most common online casino bonus. The casino that you are signing up to might be offering each new player 20 Free Spins to try out a popular online slot in the real money mode.

Alternatively, it may be offering each new player 1 Free Spin for every £1.00 they deposit on their first ever deposit (which could be worth up to a certain amount, say 50 Free Spins, which means you would need to deposit £50).

If you’re really lucky, you can now find online casinos that give new players a matching deposit bonus AND a free spins bonus as part of the initial sign-up bonus. You can then use those free spins to play the selected slots only, and then you can generally only win up to a certain amount (which could be capped at £50, or perhaps as much as £500).

Exactly how much your welcome bonus winnings are capped at will vary from one online casino to the next. Tip: If you love playing slots, always try and look for an online casino with a free spins bonus for new players.

No deposit bonus

The no-deposit bonus is more elusive and much harder to find these days. Back in the early days of online casinos, and up until just a few short years ago, several online casinos were offering new players a free no-deposit bonus as part of the welcome bonus.

It was generally capped at just £5.00, £10, or a maximum of £20.00 per new player, and it enabled players to try out the games in the real money mode using free money. The winnings were also usually capped at a certain amount.

Conclusion

When comparing online casino bonuses today, you also have to look at how much you have to wager before you can cash out any winnings you have made. This particular policy is otherwise known as the wagering requirement, playthrough requirement, or rollover requirement.

The lower the wagering requirement, the better it is for you as a player, and it can be anywhere from as little as 10x times the bonus amount (+ deposit amount) up to usually no more than 60x or 70x times the bonus amount (+deposit amount). Tip: Try and find bonuses that come with a 35x wagering requirement or lower.

When accepting an online casino, always remember to read the T’s & C’s to avoid disappointment. Wagering requirements are generally something that you cannot avoid when claiming a bonus, and most players find them extremely annoying.

Senegal’s president under pressure not to seek third term

– –

Senegalese president Macky Sall is coming under intense pressure not to seek a third term in office.

Mr. Sall was elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2019 for a second term but he hasn’t yet made it public and emphatic whether he will seek another term or exit the presidency.

The Constitution stipulates that a president cannot serve more than two consecutive terms and should he run again in 2024 that would violate that stipulation.

But several individuals in the president’s camp are pushing the idea of a third term, citing the 2016 constitutional revision which they say resets the clock for Sall.

With Macky Sall keeping his intentions vague, the opposition in the West African nation is promising a fierce resistance if he takes the step.

– –

This week several Senegalese organisations urged President Macky Sall to dispel any doubts and openly declare that he would not run for his own succession in 2024.

According to them any attempt to run again could spread “chaos” in Senegal.

In a statement human rights, and democracy organisations stressed the consequences of forcing for a third term which have been “particularly tragic”.

They referred to precedents in Guinean, saying Senegal must “avoid a scenario of chaos”.

– –

“To avoid such a catastrophe, the consequences of which could be even more dramatic than those of 2012, we invite you, Mr President, to make an open declaration to remove any ambiguity,” they write.

“The limitation of mandates to two is unequivocal and definitively anchored in the fundamental law,” they noted.

In 2012, Abdoulaye Wade’s candidacy for a third term of office provoked violence that left several people dead. The NGOs point out that Mr Sall had fought against the third mandate, a struggle in which he was the “main beneficiary”.

We “solemnly invite you not to present your candidacy for the presidential election of 2024, out of respect for the word given and out of respect for the clear and unequivocal interpretation that you have always given to our Constitution,” they say.

Pope Francis confesses-“Pornography is a vice, even nuns and priests watch”

At an interaction in the Vatican City, Pope Francis said that pornography was a vice, from which even nuns and priests were not free of.

Pope Francis admits on pornography among nuns

VATICAN-(MaraviPost)-Head of the Catholic Church Pope Francis on Wednesday, October 26, launched a fresh attack on the “dangers of online pornography”.

He said that it was a vice that many, including priests and nuns had. He has been regularly warning people against consuming pornographic content.

In June, Pope Francis called for pornography to be declared a “threat to public health”.

Pope Francis was speaking at an interaction with priests and seminarians studying in Rome on how digital and social media should be best used.

“Each of you think if you’ve had the experience or had the temptation of digital pornography. It’s a vice that so many people have, so many laymen, so many laywomen, and even priests and nuns,” The Indian Express quoted Pope Francis from a Vatican City transcript.

“The devil enters from there: it weakens the priestly heart. Excuse me for going down to these details about pornography, but there is a reality: a reality that touches priests, seminarians, nuns, consecrated souls,” The Hindustan Times quoted him as saying.

The 86-year-old pontiff urged everyone to delete any digital pornographic material from their phones to “avoid any temptation”.
