BLANTYRE, (MaraviPost): Fellow residents, Blantyre City Council continues to receive complaints about noise pollution emanating from public events in residential areas.
The Council is determined to ensure that residents live in peace and harmony. The Council has legal mandate to enforce national laws as well as By-Laws. However, residents may wish to know that immediately we issued notice banning holding of public events such as engagements, weddings, bridal showers among others in residential areas/gardens, some garden owners obtained a court injunction es training the Council from enforcing the ban.
As a law abiding public institution, the Council pended the enforcement until the matter is concluded in court. The Council’s legal team is perusing the matter and once concluded, the residents would be advised on the court’s decision on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Council’s hands are tied to enforce the ban. But we would like to assure you that we note your complaints and sympathise with the residents that we are trying to serve.
