BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A group of faith leaders in Malawi, known as the Concerned Pastors Groupings, has joined the chorus of voices opposing the extradition of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary, to South Africa.
The pastors argue that the couple’s safety would be at risk if they were to be tried in South Africa, citing alleged previous attempts on Prophet Bushiri’s life.
Bishop Malani Mtonga, speaking on behalf of the group, emphasized that the Bushiris have the right to a fair trial, which he believes would be compromised if they were extradited.
Instead, the pastors are advocating for the couple to be tried in Malawi, under Malawian law.
The Concerned Pastors Groupings organized prayers in Blantyre, calling for the government to consider the potential risks to the Bushiris’ lives and to uphold their right to a fair trial.
The pastors’ intervention adds a new dimension to the ongoing debate about the extradition of the Bushiris, highlighting concerns about justice, safety, and human rights.
On Wednesday, MaBLEM called upon Malawians to support Prophet Bushiri and wife Mary for fair trial and safety.
