Patience Namadingo, Jetu crowned Best Artists of the Year: UMP Music Awards

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Patience Namadingo and Jetu have emerged as Best Male and Best Female Artist of the Year respectively at the prestigious UMP Music Awards.

Namadingo dominated the ceremony, scooping multiple honours that highlighted his influence and consistency in the music industry.

He walked away with awards for Best Male Artist of the Year, Best Live Act, Best Humanitarian, and Best Song of the Year for his hit track Tuli.

Eli Njuchi also made an impressive showing, winning Best Album of the Year for Cifu and Best Afrobeats/Fusion Act.

Tay Grin followed closely with awards for Best Global Impact and Best Tourism Promotion, recognising his role in elevating Malawi’s presence on international platforms.

Lady Aika secured the Best New Female Artist title, marking her strong entrance into the industry.

Chain Oh Abebu claimed the Best New Male Artist award, reflecting his growing popularity and musical potential.

Amidu Ellan was honoured as the Best Traditional/Indigenous Act, highlighting the importance of preserving Malawi’s cultural soundscapes.

Malinga Mafia was recognised as Best Dancehall Act, while Joe Ikon won the award for Best Amapiano Artist.

Toast was crowned Hip-Hop King, celebrating his impact and lyrical prowess in Malawi’s hip-hop scene.

Masintha Women’s Choir won the Best Gospel Act award in recognition of their inspiring contribution to gospel music.

Afana Ceez’s Sikoyamba Kuduka won Best Music Video, showcasing excellence in visual production.

The hit track Jah Bles by Bee Jay, Ace Jizzy, and the Daredevils won Best Collaboration of the Year.

Auvere was recognised for the Most Innovative Sound for the hit Fungo, applauding creativity and sonic originality.

Other notable winners included Cuf B, who was named Best Producer for his exceptional work behind the scenes.

Sean Films won Best Music Video Director, affirming his leading role in shaping Malawi’s visual music artistry.

Mario Bros claimed the Best Duo/Group award, while the legendary Black Missionaries were named Best Band.

Abale Fans were acknowledged as Best Fan Base, reflecting their passion and dedication.

Lyvwa’s Mabongwe won the People’s Choice Award, showcasing strong public support for his artistry.

The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was given posthumously to Wisdom Chitedze, honouring his profound contribution to Malawi’s music legacy.

The UMP Music Awards once again demonstrated the richness, diversity, and growth of Malawi’s creative industry.
