LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Phalombe Church of central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) on Wednesday,December 30, 2020 took to the street demonstrating against the rising cases of defilement in the country.
The demo started at Phalombe district commissioner office going through Zomba city en route to limbe attracted public figures like Phalombe Magistrate, councilors , church leaders and ordinary citizens.
Speaking at the end of protest at Our lady of wisdom campus in Limbe, moderator Reverend Msatithe Mathero expressed happiness that congregants demonstrated to show anger against the sinful behavior perpetrated by ill minded people.
“I hope am here to accomplish God’s plan to preach the good news and to reach out to the unreached. I organized this event to sound an SOS to the country as regards to the rape scourge that has locked our country in 2020 more than ever that even ‘ a 3 months kids’ have been raped,” Reverend Mathero outspoken.
“I am equally sure that the aim of this event has been achieved, the message has gone and people have heard what we wanted to tell Malawians across that this malpractice has to come to an end that every human being be protected and enjoy all rights as per God’s wish,” the Reverend adds.
Responding on how the community embraced his concept, the moderator said the response was overwhelming more especially morally and materially as some individuals offered their vehicles to be used during the demonstration.
The moderator expressed hope that despite financially not much was collected,he was of the optimism that some will come in to support the course so that victims of rape will be reached out accordingly.
Echoing on the same, church member Dumisani Mphepo said he decided to take part in the protest because he felt pity for the victims.
“Just imagine raping a four-months old baby that is inhuman and uncalled for behavior,so l decided to take part on this adventure so that the message be spread out to everyone who has that evil ways of abusing women and Children,” he articulated.
