United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has extended his congratulations to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika following his declaration as President of the Republic of Malawi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Muluzi formally recognized Mutharika’s victory in the 2025 presidential election.

He described the outcome as an expression of the will of the Malawian people and commended citizens for participating in the democratic process.

Muluzi expressed hope that the incoming administration would prioritize national unity, economic growth, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

He also emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and encouraged the new leadership to engage constructively with opposition parties to ensure Malawi’s stability.

The UDF President concluded by wishing Professor Mutharika success in his tenure and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit all Malawians.

Meanwhile, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General stated that while his party respects the outcome of the elections, it will continue to play a constructive role in holding the government accountable.

Leaders from the United Transformation Movement (UTM) also sent congratulatory messages, pledging cooperation on initiatives that promote economic development and social welfare.

Civil society groups hailed the smooth announcement of the results, praising both voters and political leaders for maintaining peace and demonstrating respect for democratic norms.

Grassroots party supporters across the country took to social media to congratulate Mutharika, expressing optimism that his leadership would address key issues such as unemployment, agriculture, and education.

Political analysts noted that the broad congratulatory messages from both ruling and opposition parties signaled a commitment to political stability and national cohesion following a tightly contested election.

For Malawians, the collective messages of goodwill reflect hope that the incoming administration will unite the nation and deliver on promises of development, transparency, and inclusive governance.
