MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has urged churches in Malawi to continue with their support towards Tonse government developmental agenda, citing health and education sectors as examples of support that the church renders to the government.
President Chakwera made the remarks on Sunday morning May 9,2021 at St. Peters Cathedral of Roman Catholic Church in Mzuzu where he attended prayers.
Chakwera encouraged the church to enhance the relationship with government in delivering of services to Malawian people while moving together with one vision of serving the citizenry while developing the country.
President Chakwera told the congregation that the message preached was timely, saying the church play a very great advisory role as far as good governance is concerned.
The Malawi leader lauded the church for its role in sharpening minds and morals of the citizens.
He therefore congratulated the Father Peter Adrian Chifukwa for being appointed by Pope Francis (16) to become the Bishop of Dedza Parish.
During the service President Chakwera made a donation of MK1 Million to St. Peters Parish.
In his remarks, Rt. Rev. John Ryan, Bishop for Mzuzu Diocese applauded President Chakwera for joining the prayers at the parish and wished him well in his capacity as the President of Malawi.
President Chakwera is in the Northern region on official tour.
