I would like to sincerely congratulate the highly esteemed members of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, particularly the Water Supply Department, as well as Baseflow, Henga-Phoka, and Tengani Water User’s Associations, on receiving the esteemed 2023 Zikomo Presidential Awards. This distinguished recognition was bestowed upon them yesterday during a ceremony presided over by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
These awards hold immense significance for us in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, as they represent vital contributions towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal number 6, which emphasizes universal access to water for all. It is a true testament to the efforts made by our awardees and their dedication to improving water services.
Our awardees notwithstanding, I would like to congratulate all the other awardees that includes Mr. Napoleon Dzombe, Acades, Micromek Limited, Uchembere Wabwino, Wandikweza, Partners in Hope, Atsikana Paulendo, Tingathe, and Kibebe. Congratulations to you all!
For starters, the Zikomo Presidential Awards were established in 2021 to honor individuals from various fields in Malawi whose selfless services have made a significant impact on the lives of citizens and contributed to the country’s socio-economic development. This year’s event was held under the theme, “Celebrating Self-reliance.”
