Malawi President Peter Mutharika travelled to participate in this year’s N’cwala Festival in Chipata, Zambia.
President Peter Mutharika was welcomed by His Excellency President Edgar Lungu, the Government and the People of the Republic of Zambia. It seems relations with President Lungu have started on a better note than his predecessor Michael Sata.
Malawi President Mutharika noted that the gathering strengthened Malawi ties with Zambia but also celebrated the richness of the Ngoni culture in Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique.
President Mutharika felt honored to celebrate in such events as he believes they bring out important cultural aspects that may have been forgotten over time and promotion of cultural tourism which is a catalyst for social economic growth.
The President noted that Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia do not only share the Ngoni Culture but also have common languages.
The Malawi President said he was pleased to see people that live along the common boundaries continue to peacefully co-exist, intermarry, and trade with each other. He attributed this to our good neighborliness.
