Selling of green maize banned in Blantyre city

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Blantyre city council has banned the selling or offering of ready-to-eat foods within the city of Blantyre.

According to the press release from Blantyre city council, foods such as mandasi, cooked or roasted fresh maize, cooked cassava, sweet beer (thobwa), grasshoppers, birds and several others shall be confiscated and destroyed if any vendor will be caught selling them starting last Saturday.

This is in line with Local Government Act and Public Healthy Act and Blantyre city Bylaws.

The council has therefore appealed to all residents and general public to observe personal and food hygiene at all times.
