LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Deputy Minister of Transport and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Youth Director, Steve Baba Malondera, has rallied support for the party ahead of the September 16, 2025 elections, urging people in the southern part of Ntchisi District to vote strictly for MCP candidates.
He likened independent candidates to a funeral without a church lacking structure, support, and clear vision and urged voters not to waste their ballots on individuals merely aiming to divide the MCP vote.
Speaking at a political rally on Wenesday July 16,in Ntchisi, Malondera drummed up support for parliamentary candidate Ulemu Chilapondwa and all MCP ward councillors, stating that only the ruling party has a clear development agenda and the capacity to deliver for the people.
“This is not the time for experimenting with leadership,” Malondera said. “Ulemu Chilapondwa has the party’s full backing, and we are confident he will represent the people well in Parliament.”
Malondera strongly warned against voting for independent candidates, describing them as disorganized and lacking a policy direction.
He stressed that the MCP is targeting a clean sweep in the Central Region and that every vote should go towards President Lazarus Chakwera, MCP Members of Parliament, and councillors to ensure continued development and policy consistency.
“The Central Region is the backbone of MCP, and we want to show the country that the President still enjoys overwhelming support here,” he added.
Malondera also hinted at major infrastructure and youth empowerment projects planned for Ntchisi, should the MCP win again, saying the government is ready to accelerate progress in rural communities.
“The September 16 election is one that Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will win without a doubt. What we want now is to win big with unity and purpose,” said Malondera.
