Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open Men’s Final, winning his 18th grand slam. Switzerland’s Federer won 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 against the Spaniard in a five-set match that lasted more than three-and-a-half hours.
Yesterday the Maravi Post had an article imploring the Malawi Government to take advantage of Rogers Star Power to build tourism in the country. Roger Federer has been travelling to Malawi to see progress of the preschool built through his charity foundation. The Tennis star has helped build 50 preschools so far and hopes to reach one million children in Malawi.
To the rest of the world, he’s known as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. To the children in ‘the warm heart of Africa’, Malawi, he’s known simply as the man who helps to build preschools across the country.
We congratulate Roger and hope the Malawi Government will take note of this achievement as their own. Acknowledge that this Superstar could have taken his charity anywhere in Africa but chose Malawi.
