LUHANSK-(MaraviPost)-At least 60 people sheltered in a school in the Ukrainian village of Bilohorivka are feared dead after Russian bombing attack on civilians.
The governor of the Luhansk region, Serhiy Gaidai, disclosed the news of the tragedy on Sunday, May 8.
“Russia dropped a bomb on Saturday afternoon on the school where about 90 people were sheltering, causing a fire that engulfed the building killing dozens of civilians,” said Gaidai.

He added that the fire was extinguished after nearly four hours and about thirty survivors were rescued from the rubble of buildings.
The school bombing comes as Russian forces are keeping up their barrage of southern Ukraine, hitting the major Black Sea port of Odesa with cruise missiles.
Reuters report indicated that Russian forces also bombarded the steelworks on the coast in Mariupol where Ukrainian fighters have remained trapped underground and 300 civilians have been evacuated from the facility.
Russia-Ukraine war has been ongoing for about 10-weeks now. Thousands of people have been killed, cities destroyed , and nearly five million Ukrainians have fled their homes.
The most intense fighting in recent days has been in eastern Ukraine, where the two sides are entrenched in a fierce battle to capture or reclaim territory, Al Jazeera reported.
Russia has however denied accusations of targeting civilians and war crimes levelled against the country by Ukraine and the West.
