BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi women’s national football team, the Scorchers, continued their impressive run with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lesotho in a friendly match at the Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe, Blantyre on Sunday.
Prolific forward Asimenye Simwaka stole the spotlight, scoring all three goals with brilliant headers that exposed the weaknesses of Lesotho’s defense.
Her outstanding performance marked her second consecutive scoring spree, taking her tally to five goals in two matches.
The victory follows the Scorchers’ 3-0 win over Lesotho on Friday, meaning coach Lovemore Fazili’s charges have now netted six goals in two outings without conceding a single one.
Fazili praised his squad’s defensive resilience and attacking efficiency, stressing that the momentum is vital ahead of next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Angola.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) organized these friendlies as part of the team’s preparation strategy, giving players the chance to sharpen their tactics, build fitness, and boost confidence before facing tougher continental challenges.
