A 70-year old man Chatala Antonyo, was found dead on Thursday. The Maravi Post was informed that the body of late Antonyo was found in his home and with his head, severed from his body.
According to our source, Nsanje police spokesperson Agnes Zalakoma, confirmed the incident and said the macabre crime occurred at Nthole village, in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Malemia.
She said the criminal behind the incident have not been identified, however, the police have launched a man hunt.
Zalakoma said the deceased “was a watchman at a shop owned by (a local businessman) and on Wednesday night, the victim did not report for duty. He was (sadly) found dead in his house the following day (Thursday).”
However, Zalakoma said that the decapitated head of the deceased was not found at the crime scene.
She said the body is currently at Nsanje Hospital for postmortem formalities.
The late Antonyo hails from Hapalikusala village, in the area of T/A Malemia in the same district.
