“We need more of these trophies for promotion of primary school talent which remain untapped as it might be useful in the future of our national teams.
“By wining the netball trophy after beating Tsabago in the finals, it just shows how talented and hard work my team is. We will cherish this till my girls achieve their goals in netball like the way Mwawi and Mary Waya did in our time,” said Elizabeth Perekamoyo, the coach for Mlodza Primary School.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Maravi Post after presenting prizes to the winning teams, Karel Ludick, Simama Hotels General Manager hinted the need for companies to commit themselves to social cooperate responsibilities particularly to surrounding communities of operation.
Manager Ludick disclosed that the bonanza was part of social responsibility programs which will be a routine activity in the area for the development of netball and football in primary schools.
“The approach is that Simama Hotel is launching SR Programme aimed at giving back to the community. We will be engaging the community with small scale community development initiatives like construction of school blocks, school fees to the needy learners, afforestation and other projects.
“This is why we are witnessing the launch of such program where these games including football and netball have been lined up as part of the event. We want to support the growth of grass root talents which might be beneficial to national teams. The bonanza is an on going event till potential players are identified,” Ludick.
