JOHANNESBURG-(MaraviPost)-South African entertainment industry has lost another figure after The Estate actor Siyanda Sesimani, popularly known for his stint on Soul City, dies.
Actor Zola Hashatsi confirmed the news of Sesimani’s passing in a statement on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
According to Zola, Sesimani, before his demise, had been in a coma since February 15, after he was injured in a house burglary by unknown attackers.
He had been in ICU since and his surgery was due on Monday, on his birthday, with the hope that he would recover, SowetanLive reported.
Siyanda won the hearts of many when he portrayed Mandla on the critically acclaimed, award-winning SABC 1 edutainment drama Soul City.
He became a household name with a devoted fan base after joining the show during its 11th season.
The actor’s death follows the death of award-winning hip-hop DJ Boitumelo Mooi, popularly known as DJ Dimplez, earlier this week due to brain haemorrhage.
Prior to that, south Africa entertainment industry has seen numerous other celebrities tragically dying this year, including Riky Rick, Kuli Roberts, DJ Citi Lyts and Patrick Shai.
Siyanda Sesimani is survived by a three-year-old daughter whom he shared parenting with his former partner.
