LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-A South Korean woman who was living at Area 43 in the capital Lilongwe committed suicide in protest against her husband’s intention of footing the funeral arrangements bill back in their home country—South Korea.Lilongwe Police Station Spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula has identified the deceased as Soon Deoknoh, 71, who until her death was The Managing Director of Green House Lodge.
The police publicist Dandaula said Deoknoh hanged herself this week in a tree within the family compound.
Dandaula explained that the deceased husband-Byeang Whacho received a call from home land-South Korea telling him that his brother had died.
Whacho asked his wife to send some money to cater for funeral expenses of her brother-in-law which the late Deoknoh was against.
“The deceased vehemently objected the husband’s request. Deoknoh thereafter allegedly took some beer which she reportedly had never taken before and went to bed in her separate room.
“In the early hours of Tuesday, Deoknoh was found hanging in one of the trees in her compound.
“Eventually, Lingadzi police officers took her body to Kamuzu Central Hospital for autopsy whose results revealed that the deceased death was due to suffocation,” said Dandaula.
Burial arrangement for the late Deoknoh will be made available to the public as soon as all funeral preparations are done.
