Spell Masters Education Communications (SMECO) To Launch Season Four at Ryalls hotel in Blantyre

MaraviPost iReports: Spell Masters Education Communications (SMECO) organisers of the National Spell Master Spelling Bee will launch season four of the competition at Ryalls hotel in Blantyre next week.

SMECO’s Managing Director Lewis Mbaula said that the Minister of Education Science and Technology, Emmanuel Fabiano, is expected to attend the launch.

“We are launching season four of the National Spell Master Spelling Bee at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre on 31st July 2015 and the Minister of education science and Technology will be in attendance. It will be a cocktail function which is being organised by SMECO in partnership with Zodiak TV,” said Mbaula.

Mbaula added that at the same function they will award contestants who were successful during the finals of season three.

“Please note that on this day MACRA shall also award those who came first in the ICT category of the same competition with MK200,000 plus tablets to all the champion including those who  won in the juniors category,” explained Mbaula.

Some contestants who emerged winners during the last national finals complained that it was taking long to get their prize money.

“It is true that I scooped the second position but up to now I haven’t received the prize money and I don’t know whether I will get it,” said Takondwa Kalonga, pupil at Kasasa Private School in Dwangwa.

However, while accepting the delay, Mbaula said they had arranged to have a special second presentation ceremony for the other winners.

“If the winners will not make it to the second presentation ceremony in Blantyre, then the schools should just send us the bank account number and the money will be deposited.” explained Mbaula.

The Spell Master Spelling Bee started its ground work in 2010 with the authority and permission from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and got its first Spelling Bee contest in 2012 and has attracted a lot of attention at national level.
