Sports Minister Gangata calls for serious investment in youth-led community initiatives

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Sports Minister Alfred Gangata has called for stronger collaboration and increased investment in youth-led community initiatives.

Gangata observes that “Its a way of accelerating economic growth and promoting sustainable development in Malawi”

Speaking during the CorpsAfrica Pitch Day held in Lilongwe on Friday, The Sports Minister said youth-driven projects must be properly coordinated and aligned with national priorities to ensure they deliver meaningful impact on the economy.

Board Representative for CorpsAfrica and Director of People and Culture for CorpsAfrica Global, Arthur Nkosi, said the organisation has deployed 83 volunteers in 83 communities, where they are supporting residents to develop local solutions aimed at improving livelihoods and building resilience.

Echoing the same, Marian Mshani from Kachulu Community in Zomba District presented a sunflower oil production project seeking over US$ 1million to acquire equipment and improve production capacity in order to generate sustainable income for local families.

The Pitch Day, held under the theme “Powering Community-Led Change,” provided a platform for young innovators to showcase community-based solutions and access funding, mentorship, and partnerships for sustainable development.
