LILONGWE Maravipost. Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members have violated two vehicles belonging to Zomba Members of Parliament, both representing the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The vehicles that were destroyed belonged to Zomba Chingale, a member of Parliament, Ronnie Phiri, and Grace Mkwelepeta, a member of Zomba Malosa.
In an interview with the Member of Parliament for Zomba Malosa, Grace Mkwelepeta said her car has damaged with knives.
Mkwelepeta called upon civil society to intervene, as the lives of women parliamentarians are at stake.
Ronnie, a Zomba Chingale Member, expressed sadness at the occurrence of violations while the president was present.
According to Phiri, if they had been in the vehicles, it could have led to their death or injury.

” My vehicle being vandalized made me cry. I bought it for MK800,000, but it may now be worth more than that. It made me sad.,”said Phiri.
Spokesperson for DPP,Shadrek Namalomba said what transpired at Parliament indicate that MCP has failed to govern the Democratic country.
Namalomba said all DPP members are stuck at Parliament premises as Malawi army have instructed them not to go out until the situation is calm.
He therefore said Malawians are the ones to judge.
The attacks happened amidst the presence of the Malawi Defense Force and Parliament security team, while the members were still inside.
All the MCP supporters who were putting on party legalia as well as those that were putting on executive suits were sent out by MDF soldiers soon after the president left the Parliament premises as they were throwing stones.
