Talk to us Mr President Chakwera on AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine’s efficacy mirth

Chakwera being vaccinated

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera Tonse administration has been gagged on fresh stand on use of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine as some countries are suspending its use over reports of complications.

Malawi rolled out the vaccination exercise on Thursday, March 11, 2021 with President Chakwera, his Vice Saulos Chilima and other senior government officials being the first to be vaccinated.

Latest international media reports are indicating that countries including Thailand, Denmark and Norway have suspended the vaccine over reports of blood clots, despite there being no evidence over the same.

When contacted for a comment on the matter, both the Health and Information Ministers who are also members of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 did not pick up their phones.

South Africa was the first country to suspend AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine but Malawi procured it without assessment.

Chakwera’s Tonse administration must come open to the public on the vaccine’s efficacy.
