She further said that the group also sources funds which is used for sponsoring Junior Tournaments.
“Our goal is to keep uplifting the sport which is on the verge of dying. So far, we have renovated the Gymkhana club court in Zomba, and we plan to do the same in other dilapidated tennis courts”, said Jayne.
Team Loving Tennis holds both junior and senior sections during every event the juniors get coached by a qualified coach and the seniors get to play doubles matches based on points and at the end find the winners for both sections.
According to the acting general secretary for Lawn Tennis Association of Malawi’s (LTAM) Regina Dembo, Tennis is deemed difficult especially by older people hence these events were created to show the athletes that tennis is easy to play by using the softer balls.
“Team Loving Tennis events have attracted the interest of many people to love the game hence increasing the number of Tennis players in the country.
Team Loving Tennis is somehow assisting LTAM’s as well as ITF’s strategic goals in increasing participation”, said Regina.
