Three Zimbabwe Presidential soldiers arrested for robbing couple at gunpoint

HARARE-(MaraviPost)-Three Zimbabwe Presidential soldiers have been arrested for robbery after they allegedly robbed a family at gunpoint at a farm in Beatrice, Mashonaland East.

The three retired solders, Shadreck Kadira (33), Munyaradzi Munyuki (27) and Busani Moyo (29), were arrested by the police following a case in Beatrice which happened on February 28, 2022.

The trio reportedly raided Houmoed Farm and overpowered Luke Williams, 19, who was relaxing in his bedroom cottage at the farm and tied him with shoelaces with a gun pointed at him before he handed them US$250.

Newsday reported that the robbers then moved on to the main house where they woke up David George Rickards, 67, and his wife Philliper Rickards, 62 threatening to shoot them before they handed over US$850.

The robbers reportedly also forced the couple to open the safe which had Z$1,000 in Z$5 notes.

The police revealed that the alarm was triggered when one of the suspects tried to switch off the outside lights which alerted workers at the farm who called the police

The robbers fled the scene, splitting into two groups of three before police officers tracked their footprints to Harare-Masvingo Road where they were arrested.

Police recovered a bracelet and a knife stolen at the farm and US$160, US$172, and US$155 from each suspects.

Meanwhile, investigators are on the hunt for three other suspects who have been only identified as Shumba Murambwi, a Junior and one Kheda.
