To be respected, Justice Andrew Nyirenda must demonstrate impartiality at all costs

Judges of the Supreme Court of Appeal who made the ruling on the election appeal case

As a Chief Justice and a custodian of Juris Prudence, Justice Andrew Nyirenda must demonstrate impartiality at all costs. There was no need for him to be rude and using foolish language. As an elder in judicial, he should have risen above sentimental politics. The right to appeal is a constitutional one given to every Malawian regardless of political affiliation. Demeaning them was uncalled for and unprofessional.

Chief Justice Nyirenda Leaks Appeal Judgement

Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda leaked the Supreme Court of Appeal Judgement to MCP Lazarus Chakwera.

Nyirenda met Retired Judge Singini a few days ago at Salima Boma while the judges were concluding writing the judgement at Livingstonia Beach in Salima. Nyirenda told Singini that he has fulfilled his mission of ensuring that the judgment favors the Opposition.

Instead, Singini spoke to Harry Mkandawire to inform Chakwera. Because of this tip, Malawi Congress Party and UTM are this evening preparing for a breakfast celebration in Lilongwe.

Chief Justice Nyirenda is said to have received money in dollars from Simbi Phiri.

Simbi Phiri has been delivering the bribes through the Likoma MCP MP Ashem Songwe.

Supreme Court is expected to maintain that Peter Mutharika’s May 2019 votes be nullified and require the President to fire MEC Commissioners although, hypocritically, the same Commissioners presided over the election for members of parliament who are left untouched.

According to the Court, the Commissioners did a perfect job in managing the election of MPs but did a bad job in the election of Mutharika when actually the process was the same.

Nyirenda has promised Chakwera that they have set a trap because Mutharika is likely to refuse to fire the Commissioners and they will charge the President with contempt of court in order to impeach him and swear in Chakwera.
