Also, he became the first player in NBA history to gain the title “Player of the Week” during his first week in the league. Shaq retired from NBA on June 1, 2011. He posted on his tweeter: “We did it. Nineteen years, baby. I want to thank you very much. That’s why I’m telling you first. I’m about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon.” He became an NBA analyst on Turner Network Television. He was also cast in Hollywood movies.
