Truck driver arrested for illegal Cannabis Sativa possession in Lilongwe

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Police  at Kanengo station on Wednesday morning arrested a 35 year old man identified as Willard Kaoloka for been found in possession of 38 bags of cannabis Sativa popularly known as chamba without licence.

 

According to Central Region Police Public Relations Officer,  Nolliettie Chihana Chimala the law enforcers  received a tip from a certain well wisher that the driver in question had loaded the illicit drug in his truck container.

Upon receipt of the information, the police followed the suspect at his work place at AS Investments within Kanengo.

After searching the truck container, it was discovered that the container was full of the bags well packed. The driver was arrested instantly.

When the driver was interviewed, he confessed to police that the loaded the bags at Area 49 Zebra crossing and that the bags belong to a certain Zimbabwean who hired him to ferry the substance to a certain place in Mozambique.

 

Meanwhile, the driver has been charged with found in possession of cannabis sativa without license which is contrary to section 19 of Dangerous Drug Act. Investigators are also underway to arrest the Zimbabwean in question.

 

The suspect Willard Kaoloka hails from Chanika village Traditional Authority (T/A) Mkanda, Mchinji district.
