Opposition Peoples Party acting president Uladi Mussa has repeated his call for immediate resignation of president Peter Mutharika even though he was freely elected, saying he has failed running the country.
Mussa said this when he addressed a rally on Sunday at Nsalura ground in Salima district.
Among other things Mussa cited, the lapse in security, hunger and corruption among government officials as indicators that DPP led government has failed.
“How come thieves are only targeting high profile figures? We heard the house of vice president Saulos Chilima was attacked, the house of Atupele Muluzi was attacked and very recent we heard the house of former president madam Joyce Banda was attacked as well, as Malawians we are living in fear.” He said.
He added that it’s very surprising that some people are saying there is no hunger in the country yet people are dying. “Hunger has left no place in this country, even here in Salima people are suffering. There is no enough maize in ADMARC depots to feed the whole population. If we are voted into power in 2019, we will go into massive irrigation. It’s a known a fact that this country needs to be irrigated. He added that.
Mussa also asked government to quickly finish the investigations on the death of Ant-corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of corporate affairs Issa Njauju and polytechnic student Robert Chasowa.
He wondered why until now the public is not aware of what caused the sudden deaths of Njaunju and Chasowa. “These people are behaving as if they know something on these mysterious deaths” He wondered.
Some notable faces who graced the rally were, PP secretary general Ibrahim Matola, Ralph Juuma, Party’s publicist Ken Msonda and others.
